TAKE ME TO THE 90s!
For the past week I've been all nostalgic for the 1990s, which is strange because I'm usually nostalgic for decades in which I wasn't living yet. Yes, believe me you can be nostalgic for eras when you didn't live in them.
I found out that there's this genre of music videos from the 1990s where they layer different video clips. Oh if only I knew proper video vocabulary, I live such a hard life working at that factory and all.
Example One:
My Bloody Valentine "Soon"
Example Two:
Sonic Youth "Candle"
I know it was released in '88 but still it's close enough. Damn you youtube bastards ruining my blog aesthetic and not enabling embedded videos! So for all of you who won't click the link I was nice enough to take some screen shots of the video (youtube sign and all) so you get the jist:
Dayum, check out that Sub Pop subliminal messaging that i just stumbled upon. I wonder what they put in SHINS videos. lolz.
Just Go to the link:

Example Three:
The Cranberries "Dreams"
I was thinking about what the equivalent of these videos are today. At first I thought that these BEAUTIFUL videos do not exist anymore but then it struck me. THEY DO!
Dan Deacon "Big Big Big Big Big"
I mean it's different but the concept is still similar right?
Then you have all the Dan Deacon copycats like:
MGMT "Electric Feel"
and
Ponytail "Die Allman Bruder"
I actually don't know if Dan Deacon was the first one to update those vidz but I'm crediting him for it because he's fucking Dan Deacon.
The end.
